| BOOKS ON THE LIFE OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD PBUH |
Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was an Arab religious, social, and head and the initiator of the religion of Islam. According to Islamic doctrine, he was a Prophet, divinely inspired to sermonize and confirm the monotheistic tuition of Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets. He's believed to be the final prophet of God in all the main branches of Islam, though some nomenclatures diverge from this belief. Muhammad united Arabia into a single Muslim polity, with the Quran, as well as his tuition and practices, forming the root of Islamic religious belief.
Here are some of the best books on the life of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
1. Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum. (THE SEALED NECTAR)
AUTHOR: Safiur Rahman
Mubarakpuri.
A complete authoritative book
on the life of Prophet
Muhammad (S) by Sheikh Safiur Rahman Mubarkpuri. It was awarded first prize
as a book by the World Muslim League. Anyone who wants to know the entire way
of life of the Prophet in detail must read this book. Muhammad (S) is the Messenger
of Allah, and those who are with him are strict against the disbelievers and
merciful among themselves. Thou sees them bowing and prostrating (in prayer)
for the sake of Allah's bounty and His pleasure. The sign of them (i.e. of
their Faith) is on their faces (foreheads) from the marks of prostration
(during prayer). This is their description in the Taurdt (Torah). But their
description in the Injeel (Gospel) is like a (sown) seed which sends forth its
sprout, then it grows strong and becomes thick and it stands straight on its
stalk and delights the sower that He may anger the disbelievers with it. Allah
has promised forgiveness and a mighty reward (Paradise) to those among them who
believe and do righteous good deeds. (Al-Fath: 29)Prophet Muhammad (S) said,
"The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is
like abundant rain falling on the earth. Part of it was fertile soil that
absorbed the rainwater and produced vegetation and grass in abundance. (And)
another part of it was hard and held the rainwater, and Allah favored the
people with it, and they used it for drinking (made their animals drink from
it) and for irrigating the land for cultivation. (And) a part of it was barren,
which could neither hold the water nor produce vegetation (then that land was
of no use). The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah's
religion (Islam) and derives benefit (from the knowledge) that Allah (Azawajal)
has sent down through me (the Prophet) and learns and then teaches it to others.
The (last example is that of) a person who does not care and does not accept
Allah's guidance sent down through me (he is like this barren land)."
(Al-Mukarramah).

2.
THE WAY OF MUHAMMAD. (PBUH)
AUTHOR: ABD AL-QADIR SUFI.
The book on the life of Prophet
PBUH treats the subject through the following main headings: Affirmation, The
Science of the Self, The Science of the Sunnah, The Science of States, The
Science of the Qur'an, The
Science of Confusion, and The Science of the Moment.
The books give an insight
into the Sufi aspects of Islam and their application in daily life. Some
sayings of Prophet Muhammad SAW are included as well as relevant verses of
Glorious Quran. The book is accompanied by some diagrams which I believe are
not present in the soft copy version. The book is useful for the newcomer to
Islam and Sufism and is also recommended to practicing Muslims and Sufis or
those who intend to join the Tariqah (the Way). Wallahu a'lam (God Knows Best).

3. Muhammad: A Biography of the Prophet PBUH
Author: Karen Armstrong.
The book on the life of
Prophet Muhammad PBUH offers a comparison between the three major monotheistic
religions Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. It also derives relevant examples
from Buddhism and Hinduism. It not only talks about the life of Muhammad but
also discusses the relations and conflicts between the Western and Islamic
worlds. The book also discusses the impact that Western attitudes have had on
the Muslim psyche and attempts to explain the different attitudes many modern
Muslims have towards the Western world today. After 9/11, Armstrong took up the
subject again, writing Muhammad: A Prophet for Our Time for the Atlas Books
"Eminent Lives" series published by HarperCollins in 2006.

4. IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE PROPHET. (PBUH)
Author: Tariq Ramadan.
In the Footsteps of The prophet is a fresh and insightful look at Muhammad, capturing a life that was
often eventful, compelling, and highly charged. Ramadan provides both an
intimate portrait of a man who was shy, kind, but determined, and a dramatic
chronicle of a leader who founded a great religion and inspired a vast empire.
More importantly, Ramadan presents the major events of the Prophet's life in a
way that highlights his spiritual and ethical teachings. The book emphasizes
the importance of the Prophet's example on some of the most controversial
issues of our time, such as the treatment of the poor, the role of women,
Islamic criminal punishment, war, racism, and relations with other religions.
Selecting those facts and stories from which we can draw a deep and vivid
spiritual picture, the author asks how the life of the Prophet can remain - or
become again - an example, a model, and an inspiration. And how can Muslims
move from formalism - a fixation on ritual - to an engaged spiritual and social
presence?
In this thoughtful and
compelling biography, Ramadan offers Muslims a new understanding of Muhammad's
life and he introduces non-Muslims not only to the Prophet's story but also to
the spiritual and ethical richness of Islam.

5. SAHIH MUSLIM.
Author: Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj.
Sahih Muslim is the most
authentic book of Prophet Muhammad PBUH hadith
according to Sahih Al-Bukhari and contains 7,563 ahadith. Muslim scholars have
agreed that all Ahadith in Sahih Muslim are authentic. Therefore, Darussalam
has realized the great benefit of publishing the complete version of Sahih
Muslim in English in the best presentation. Much care has been taken to render
these Ahadith in a clear and simple style of modern English.
This high-quality edition of
Sahih Muslim has been extensively reviewed by Dar-us-Salam Publications. The
translation has been checked several times, not only to avoid translation
errors, but also to avoid misinterpretation of the Hadith, as is done by many
translators of today to get the product to market quickly or due to their lack
of understanding of the Arabic language. Unlike other publishers who keep you
guessing about the meaning of the Hadith, the unclear wording has been
explained in the brackets. There are also footnotes at the bottom of some pages
when the term cannot be explained in the brackets. This edition of Dar-us-Salam
is nice in that it begins with a sketch of the life of Imam Muslim. Then it
continues with the introduction of Sahih Muslim by Imam Muslim himself, where
he explains the difference between different narrators and the degree of
trustworthiness.
